Welcome to my Intuitive and Mindfulness Blog! First things first, What is Intuitive eating? Have you ever heard of it? Being in the fitness industry for about 5 years, I have been around the ideas of fad diets and weight loss programs. It took a national pandemic to make me realize something for 30 days, is not a sustainable way to lose weight or ‘get healthy’. Our society has created this over exaggerated ‘Diet Culture’, that is just so WRONG. I will break it down for you, don’t you WORRY.

Intuitive Eating was created in 1995, by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. They created a framework and principles to break away from society’s diet culture. Why are we just learning about this now though? Because our society has created all of these beauty ideals and weight ideals with the addition of fad diets. Seriously, not until there were celebrities like Ashley Graham or Demi Lovato in some cases, who pushed the body positivity movement to mainstream media.  We will discuss body positivity in another post of course. That is one of my favorite topics to dive into. 

ANYWAYS, Just wanted to say hello and welcome to my page. I can’t wait to drop some knowledge about how insane our diet culture is and that you don’t need to cut your favorite foods EVER.

  1. Before reading this blog I have never heard of the term “intuitive eating” but you have my attention! All my life diet culture has always been taught one way. That you had to do extremities of eating things you didn’t want to eat to convince yourself that you were happy and healthy. So not true though! Can’t wait to see more of your blog!

    This is so interesting! I think this would be my go to blog now since I have been trying to follow a diet regime but it never really works! 🙂 Thank god I wouldn’t have to cut down on my favourite food only to loose weight!
